NMI offers an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Nautical Science. This program combines four semesters of general education and nautical science as well as two summer internship opportunities at sea. The two semesters at sea allow students to gain real world experience as well as build professional relationships in the industry, all while accumulating sea time towards their license and receiving credit for course work.
A degree in Nautical Science will give you many options for employment in the maritime transportation industry. You will be a licensed certified seafarer with the ability to continue working your way into senior ranks through continuing education.
Upon graduation, students obtain the Associate in Applied Science in Nautical Science diploma as well as qualify for licensing under the United States 46 CFR regulations and STCW sections A-II/3 and A-II/5 with multiple endorsements. As any other associate degree program, our degree allows graduates the choice of pursuing work or further education upon receiving their degree, meaning students are not necessarily locked into a career at sea.
