Engineroom Resource Management Blended Course (NOREMI-828)

 

The Engine Room Resource Management Course combines online materials, audio, videos, group exercises and case studies to understand resource management.  Students will learn to apply resource management, leadership and teamworking skills for the operation of the engineering plant onboard a vessel.

Under USCG approval, the course satisfies:

 

1) the Engine Resource Management training requirements of 46 CFR 11.325(a)(3)(i) and (b)(1); 46 CFR 11.327(a)(3)(i) and (b)( 1); 46 CFR 11.329(a)(4)(iv); 46 CFR 11.331(a)(3)( i) and (b)( 1); and 46 CFR 11.333(a)(3)(i) and (b)(1); AND

 

2) the Leadership And Teamworking Skills of: 46 CFR 11.329(c)' AMD

 

3) Specific tasks from NVIC 17-14 Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch: 1.4.A,; 16.1.A; 16.2.A; 16.3.A; 16.4.A

 

***Per USCG requirements, upon completion of the online portion of this course, the user will be required  to complete assessments and a final examination meeting minimum assessment requirements  at Northeast Maritime Institute.   The online completion receipt will provide further details.

Advanced Firefighting Revalidation Blended Course (NOREMI-890) Online Course

 

This Course is needed for currently licensed officers who have worked 1 year in the last 5 years who need to renew their Advanced Firefighting Training.

Students will take most of the course online and then come in to NMI for 1 day to take an exam and complete some case study work and table top exercises.

 

This course covers training to fulfill the revalidation requirements set by 46 CFR 11.201(h)(1) and 11.303 (d) and the standards of competence set forth in Table A-VI/3 of the STCW Code.    Applicants for renewal of their STCW officer endorsement who have evidence of 1 year (360 days) of sea service within the previous 5 years in combination with completion of this  Advanced Firefighting Revalidation course will meet the requirements above and the following tasks from USCG NVIC 09-14: 1.3A, 1.5A, 2.1A, 2.1B, 3.1A, 3.1B, 4.1A, 4.1B and 4.1C..”

The Basic Training Online program  meets the requirements set forth by the 2010 Manila Amendments to the International Maritime Organization's STCW Code as well as the USCG requirements  set by the U.S. Coast Guard for Basic Training in NVIC 08-14 and by Table A-VI/1-1 through 1-4 for Basic Safety Training of the requirements of the STCW Code, as amended. The course individually meets the requirements for Basic Firefighting set forth in STCW Table A-VI/1-2 and 46 CFR Table 13.121(g); the training for Elementary First Aid set forth in STCW Table A-VI/1-3 and 46 CFR 11.302(a)(3) and 46 CFR 12.602(a)(3), the training for Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities training per STCW Table A-VI/1-4 and 46CFR11.302(a)(4) and 12.602(a)(4); and the training for Personal Survival Techniques set forth in STCW Table A-VI/1-1and 46 CFR 11.202(b)(1).  The program includes online learning components and is followed up with on-site assessments coordinated with Northeast Maritime Institute for receipt of your Certificate of Training.

Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch (On-Line)

 

This USCG approved course satisfies the training and assessment requirements of 46 CFR 12.605(a)(2)(ii) and Table A-II/4 of the STCW Code, as amended 2010 Specification of Minimum Standard of Competence for Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch.  Applicants using this approval to apply for endorsement as RFNPW must document at least 60 days of seagoing service that involves experience associated with navigational watchkeeping functions and involves the performance of duties carried out under the direct supervision of a qualified deck officer or rating on seagoing vessels.  The required assessments listed in NVIC 06-14 must be completed separately from this course.

 

Reduces the required sea time for RFNPW from 180 days to 60 days.  Examination must be scheduled at Northeast Maritime Institute upon completion of the online section of the course.
