Tonga Training

 

Northeast Maritime Institute (NMI) is proud to announce that the Tonga Ministry of Infrastructure’s Marine and Ports Division has recently approved NMI’s Basic Safety Refresher and Maritime Security training as required by the STCW Convention.  The program is specifically designed for the Tongan seafarer to receive a Certificate of Training through Northeast Maritime Institute’s comprehensive maritime learning management system, Northeast Maritime Online (NEMO°).  Once completed, the practical assessment portion of the training is to be completed at the Tonga Maritime Polytechnic Institute (TMPI) with the assistance of Northeast Maritime Institute trained Instructors and Assessors.  Completion of the NEMO° training and assessments shall allow a Tonga credentialed seafarers to renew their STCW Certificate of Proficiency through the government of Tonga.

 

 

A seafarer will be required to complete a custom designed “Training Package A” or “Training Package B” depending on the Certificate of Proficiency that one is seeking for revalidation.

 

 

  • After completion of the online portion of training, instructions will be provided to schedule your practical and assessment at the Tonga Maritime

    Polytechnic Institute and you will receive a Certificate of Training.

 

  • If you hold a Tonga Certificate of Proficiency and are looking to renew your seafarer credentials, click on the appropriate training package

3.NORTHEAST MARITIME INSTITUTE IS AN OPEN ADMISSIONS SCHOOL AND ADMITS ALL STUDENTS WHO MEET THE ADMISSION CRITERIA AS SET FORTH IN THE CATALOG.

 

4. THE CERTIFICATE OR DEGREE YOU OBTAIN FROM NORTHEAST MARITIME INSTITUTE UPON GRADUATION IS NOT THE SAME AS LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT, WHICH MAY BE REQUIRED FOR SOME

 

OCCUPATIONS, EMPLOYERS, OR STATES. THE COST OF ANY LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION OR THE COST OF ANY EXAMINATION FOR LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE TUITION COST OF THE PROGRAM AND IS ONLY INCLUDED IN THE TOTAL PROGRAM COST IF IT IS SPECIFICALLY ITEMIZED ON YOUR ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT.
