Responsible for routine deck operations aboard an OFFSHORE TOW BOAT. (NOT INLAND OR RIVER TUGS)
General housekeeping duties and vessel maintenance, which may include cooking, sweeping, mopping, painting, and equipment repair
Catching a lines on deck fittings, casting lines free when getting underway, and assist in the navigation of the boat from the deck.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

OLYMPIC TUG & BARGE
Responsible for the safe transportation of the assigned barge(s) and for the safety of the cargo, vessel(s) and crew. Responsible for safe docking of ships, (when applicable). Required to perform administrative and supervisory functions. Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of tug and barge.
•Must be able to read, speak and understand English over radiotelephone and/or radio.
•Must be able to communicate in English and effectively direct workers in assigning jobs and seeing them through to completion.
•Must have a valid first aid certificate. •Must have valid CPR training.
•Must have a valid HAZWOPER certificate or complete a 24 hour training course within 6 months from date of hire.
•Must be able to direct, fairly evaluate, and correct performance of subordinates.
•Must have valid states driver’s license.
•Valid radio operator’s license.
•Must be able to understand and use information in cargo information cards and material safety data sheets. •Must be able to work independently and without direct supervision.
•Valid Coast Guard license, minimum 200 GT near Coastal, with a radar observer endorsement.
•Valid Master or Towing near Coastal endorsement. •Five (5) years of experience towing barges as Master, coastwise on the US West Coast, SE Alaska and Central Alaska.

We allow boat owners to make their boats available to guests for day trips with a captain at the helm. Owners find captains to run their vessels. You could end up with one owner as a dedicated captain, or be hired on daily by several owners to run many different boats.
