Job Description:

 

The deckhand is responsible for general deck duties associated with the operation of the tug. Highlighted responsibilities for this position can include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Carries out all aspects of line handling and rigging during tow building, locking and docking activities
  • Performs vessel maintenance and housekeeping including painting/chipping, vessel sanitary duties and cooking
  • Provides engine room support (at direction of Captain and Vessel Engineer)
  • Inspects, correct if possible, and notify Captain of any conditions affecting the safety of the tow or the tug
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Captain on watch
  • Trains new hires and mentor OS deckhands
