POSITION: Assistant Dock Master

LOCATION: Provincetown, MA

Provincetown Marina, an Ocean Havens property, is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Dock Master for the upcoming 2021 season. The assistant dock master will serve as an ambassador of one of the most highly renowned marinas in the Northeast. The main duty of our assistant dock master is to work closely with the marina director and dock master to create an all-around great experience for our boaters by providing the highest level of customer service and exceeding their expectations. She or he also performs both administrative and supervisory roles such as planning, coordinating, promoting, and managing the daily operations, facilities, and employees of the marina, our seasonal and transient boaters as well as our community.


  • Assists arriving and departing customers with docking and undocking
  • Oversees a seasonal staff of dock attendants. Maximizes lineal footage in the marina and strategically makes best use of available dockage
  • A willingness to use computer software to manage reservations, profiles, folios
  • Keep clean equipment and facility. Inspect equipment for damage and safety
  • Open the facility, including but not limited to setting up equipment for daily use and facility maintenance
  • Perform daily dock check
  • Perform electrical meter readings at pedestals
  • Close the facility, including but not limited to putting away all equipment and locking doors
  • Provide support for a variety of special events
  • Trains and develops a team of seasonal dock attendants
  • Always maintains a professionalism and a calm and courteous demeanor
  • Responds to any urgent issues in a time sensitive manner and follows through
  • Is available for the whole boating season and takes time off only in the off season
  • Safely operate work boat for marina maintenance
  • Assist fuel dock


  • Experience in a marina or marine environment


  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, employees and public
  • Knowledge of dock construction and repair
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to swim
  • Handyman skills or general maintenance experience a plus
  • USCG license a plus

Uniform shirt, belt and hat provided. Uniform consists of khaki pants and either white or brown boat shoes.

Pay is commensurate with experience.
