NMI’s College of Maritime Science currently offers the Associate in Applied Science in Nautical Science degree program, which provides aspiring mariners with a fast track to employment in the maritime industry. The Nautical Science program is transforming maritime education by providing the required knowledge, practical training and sea time to qualify for U.S. Coast Guard licensing and an Associate’s degree in just two years. The program includes two summer cooperative learning semesters where students gain practical experience, earn sea time towards their license and make industry connections to jumpstart their careers. The program is approved by both the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education and the United States Coast Guard’s National Maritime Center. A hands-on focus offers students numerous opportunities for experiential learning using simulators and vessels.

I'll soon qualify for my USCG 1600 GT Master's License and with the support of the faculty and staff at NMI, I'm sure I'll quickly achieve that goal.”

One of the biggest things was, here at the school they talk to you about your fellow shipmates - you have to get along - and that’s a big part. And getting through the maritime industry you gotta become one - all together.
First coming to this school, we didn’t know each other, but the first day we clicked. It helps that we all have the same classes - we get to do work together and, you know, become more of a family. It’s been amazing. I feel at home with all of my friends and teachers. Everyone treats you right, and if you need help on anything they help you."

I am very thankful for all the hard work the faculty has put forth in order to keep us on a fast track to graduation with little to no hiccups.
