It’s that time of year again! Making the decision of what college you will attend for the next 2 or 4 years can be a difficult one to make. You must weigh the pros and cons and do as much research as possible in order to choose a school that’s right for YOU. So, why should you choose Northeast Maritime Institute? This article will break down who NMI College of Maritime Science is, what we offer, and why this school could be the right fit for you. Let’s begin!

Northeast Maritime Institute is America’s premiere two year private, co-educational maritime college located in Fairhaven, Massachusetts that offers its students an opportunity to pursue maritime education and career-oriented maritime training through our degree programs as well as through our professional maritime training and Standards of Training and Certification for Watchkeeping and Seafarers, 1978, as amended (STCW), courses in our Division of Continuing Education.

  1. Who are we looking for? Individuals who are passionate about entering the maritime industry may enroll in Northeast Maritime Institute’s two year Associate in Applied Science in Nautical Science degree program which combines four semesters of on-site courses with two summer internship opportunities at sea.
  2. What do you get by coming here? Upon graduation, students obtain the Associate in Applied Science in Nautical Science diploma as well as qualify for licensing under the United States 46 CFR regulations and STCW sections A-II/3 and A-II/5 with multiple endorsements. So, not only do you receive a college education, you all receive crucial licenses and certifications that you will need in the industry, all at an accelerated pace.
  3. How long is the program? The Associate in Applied Science and Nautical Science degree program is a two-year program. With the large amount of credits you receive and the two internships that you will go on, there is no other school that will give you this amount of experience in just two years.
