Assistance Towing

Assistance Towing

This 4-hour USCG approved course will satisfy the examination requirements of 46 CFR 10.482 (b) for an Assistance Towing endorsement for any license up to Master No More Than 200 Gross Tons. [Assistance towing means the towing of disabled vessels (those that are broken down for whatever reason: bad fuel, out of fuel, fouled prop, mechanical/electrical failure, grounded, etc.) for consideration (money or any other form of compensation)].

Captain’s License Course

Captain’s License Courses – OUPV through 200 gross tons Master

We offer USCG Approved Captain’s license courses for all level licenses up to 200 Gross Tons (OUPV/ Charterboat license, 100 gross tons Master and 200 gross tons Master license).  The courses are offered as both daytime and evening programs, so you can choose which fits your schedule best.  Below is a table explaining each license to help you determine which program you should take.  If you are not sure for which license you qualify, or which is appropriate for your final goals, you can call or email us:  800-767-4025 or registration@northeastmaritime.com

Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) More familiarly known as the “Charterboat (6 Pack) License”.  Allows you to take up to 6 passengers for hire on a vessel at one time. 360 days (no tonnage requirement)

68 hours long
Master up to 100 Gross Tons Allows you to Captain inspected or uninspected vessels up to 100 Gross Tons 720 days on vessels of appropriate tonnage

If you have no license, the total hours to complete the program is: 94 hrsIf you hold an OUPV license you will need to complete the Upgrade from OUPV to Master up to 100 Tons course:  26 hrs  

Master/Mate 200 Gross Tons Allows you to Captain or serve as Chief Mate on vessels up to 200 Gross Tons. 720 days on vessels of 200 Gross Tons of which 360 must be:

as Master, Mate or equivalent while holding license as Master, Mate or OUPV

OR

360 days as licensed operator or second class operator of uninspected towing vessels.

If you have no license, the total hours to complete the Master up to 200 ton program  is: 119 hrsIf you hold an OUPV license, you will need to take the Upgrade to 100 Ton and Upgrade to 200 Ton courses. Total Hours:  51 hrsIf you hold a Master 100 Gross ton license, you will need to complete the Upgrade from Master 100 Gross Tons to 200 Ton course:  25 hrs

U.S. Coast Guard Approved

This 68-hour Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel course satisfies the exam requirements of 46 CFR 10.207 for an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel license.  Subjects covered include: license structure, rules of the road, watch-standing, navigation, shiphandling, emergency procedures, first aid, firefighting, pollution and Maritime Law.

Hours: 68

Class days and time: Mon-Fri, 8:30 am-5:00 pm; Evening classes also available Mon, Wed, and Thurs, 6:30- 9:30 pm

Prerequisites: Sea Time Required by 46CFR Subpart D

First Aid/CPR

U.S. Coast Guard Approved; STCW 95 Compliant

Successfully completing this 8-hour First Aid & CPR course and presenting your Certificate of Training at the regional Exam Center (REC) will satisfy the first Aid & CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 10.205(h)(l)(ii) and 46 CFR 10.205(h)(2)(ii) for original issuance of license and satisfy the Basic Safety– Elementary First Aid training requirements of section A-VI/1 and Table A-VI/1-3 of the Seafarers’ Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) Code and 46 CFR 10.205(l)(3).

 

Taught in a one day format, students will gain the knowledge and confidence to be an effective first responder in many medical emergencies. Rescue breathing, CPR, choking, burns, hypothermia, and fractures are some of the subjects covered.

Launch Tender

U.S. Coast Guard Approved

This two day USCG approved course covers subjects such as rules of the road, firefighting, navigation, first aid, and deck general. The class is in lieu of the Coast Guard exam for a license to operate a Launch Boat.  Great employment opportunity for the summers in New England at marinas and yacht clubs!
