This course satisfies the requirements of 46 CFR 12.15-9 for the General Safety and Oiler examination modules.

This 4 week course prepares students to take the Coast Guard examinations for Designated Duty Engineer 1000/4000 Horsepower Course, under the requirements set forth in 46 CFR 10.524. 

 

 

This course provides training at an advanced level for Designated Duty Engineers aboard limited tonnage and near coastal vessels.  The course consists of a specialized training program appropriate to their duties, covering engineering operations, fire safety measures and systems, pollution prevention and control, operational practice and obligations under applicable laws and regulations.
