A graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, Robert C. Glover, III holds a Master of Steam, Motor or Auxiliary Sail Vessels of Not More Than 1600 Gross Tons, Master of Ocean Towing Vessels, Third Mate of Steam or Motor Vessels of Any Gross Tons Upon Oceans, Radar Observer unlimited and a Commonwealth of Dominica STCW Certificate for Master Rating 3000GT (ITC). Bob served on the board of directors for the American Sail Training Association and Sail Baltimore. Sailing since 1973 aboard Ocean & Harbor Tugs, Salvage Tugs and Tall Ships, Bob has been featured in several publications including:On Tugboats,  WoodenBoatMaritime Life and Traditions, and Ocean Navigator.

Martin holds an STCW 95 Unlimited Masters license issued by the UK MCA, Marshall Islands, Bahamas and Netherlands, an Higher Nautical Diploma in Nautical Science.

Martin has over 22 years sailing experience aboard a wide variety of deep sea vessels, including bulk and general cargo ships, oil tankers, cruise ships and Dynamic Positioning cable laying/ROV vessels.  Since making the move ashore he has worked as a Marine Surveyor in Savannah, GA and now enjoys applying his experience to the courses here at NMI.

Mr. Keene holds the United States Coast Guard Second Mate of Steam or Motor Vessels of any Gross Tons Upon Oceans; Also Radar Observer (Unlimited); Master of Steam or Motor Vessels of Not More Than 1600 Gross Registered Tons (Domestic Tonnage), 3000 Gross Tons (ITC Tonnage) Upon Oceans; Also master of Towing Vessels Upon Oceans and Western Rivers. He is a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy and has over 20 years of maritime experience.  Mr. Keene has extensive sea time on tank ships and barges.

Susan joined our ranks in January 2003. She is a veteran of the Coast Guard, where she spent a number of years at the CG Academy teaching and training cadets on board the Barque Eagle. Susan brings a wide range of training and teaching experience to Northeast Maritime. She also holds a Master 200 Gross Tons Aux. Sail, Near Coastal license with an AB Unlimited endorsement.

Dave Medeiros is retired from the Fairhaven Public Schools. He holds OUPV,50 ton, and Tow Assist licensing and is approved to teach the OUPV course at NMI.

Thomas Manley, Instructor

Thomas Manley is the primary instructor for Off-Site program delivery, focusing on the Caribbean Area.  He is responsible for Master’s Courses and Radar Observer.

Earl has been an instructor at NMI for over 8 years.  He is reponsible for NMI’s Basic Marine Firefighting, Basic & Advanced Marine Firefigting, First Aid/CPR and other Safety Programs at the Institute.

Previously, he served for over 25 years in the Fairhaven Fire Department, retirng as Captain.

As a member of the NMI team since 2005, Jeffrey Sylvia brings several years of experience and teaching to Northeast Maritime Institute. Jeff worked with the United States Navy as a Quarter Master for 22 years, since the age of 17. As a member of the Merchant Marines since 1992, Jeff holds a background in deep sea and research vessels. He also holds a second mate unlimited license, 1600 ton master and a 5000 ton uninspected fishing industry vessel.

David served 30 years active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard, serving as Chief Officer on the S/Y Sea Cloud, Commander of the Barque Eagle.  David also served on a number of USCG Cutters during his service time.  David currently holds a Master of Ocean Auxiliary Sail Vessels of Any Gross Tons license with Radar endorsement.  He  teaches Bridge Resource Management and Celestial Navigation at the Institute.
